Introducing New Club DJ Klaus

Talking Dance Floor Fillers and more

When did you start DJing - and what or who were your early passions and influences?

I started Djing when I was 18 years old back in 2004 in my homeland Brazil, my influences at the time were (and still are) rock and roll and bossa nova, funnily enough I was very passionate with drum and bass which at the time combined these styles with electronic music.

What made you want to be a DJ? Has it always been a dream?

Actually when I was 15 I always wanted to follow my Father's footsteps to become a journalist. That changed when I went to see a great local Brazilian DJ called Marky, his skills with the vinyls made me think “I want to do that".

Favorite party you have played at (apart from Annabel’s)?

Apart from Annabel’s which in my opinion has the best vibe in London, I would say that a memorable party would be a New Years Eve party in Bali back in 2012, there were over 5 thousand people, the crowd were jumping from beginning to end it was truly incredible.

Out of all the tunes you have, which one ‘never fails’ to fill the dance floor?

I would say that today Lykke Li I Follow Rivers never fails me

If you had a time machine what era of music would you go back to and why?

Late 70s and early 80s there was so much creativity back then its a shame I didn’t get to spend my teens in that era (born too late)

What do you usually start with when preparing for a set?

Before getting to the venue I normally like to relax, maybe listening to some nice slow music (I'm quite eclectic these days), once I'm at the venue I love to observe what sort of crowd I will be dealing with and then in my mind planning the set.

Five most requested hits at Annabel’s

Most of them are for the artists than the song itself sometimes, the good thing about Annabel's that they allow me to chose the song, but the artist normally is the main request.

1. Madonna

2. George Michael

3. Drake

4. Michael Jackson

5. Calvin Harris
