Luxury in the Country: Annabel’s at the Cornbury Music Festival
In July 2014, for the very first time, Annabel’s dove into the excitement of the British summer’s legendary music festival scene, with the Club’s inaugural Pop-up at the Cornbury Music Festival – the most civilised and family-friendly festival with an eclectic selection of music and comedy.
This year featured a number of acts who have thrilled audiences when performing live at Annabel’s, including headliners Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Simple Minds, Georgie Fame and The Feeling. Also taking to the main stage were 'Bomboléo' legends The Gipsy Kings and the boogie-woogie maestro Jools Holland – and there was no better place from which to enjoy the action than the Annabel’s Pop-up Club. With a spectacular location right next to the main stage, this afforded Members uninterrupted views of the weekend’s most thrilling performances while never compromising on comfort, luxury and – perhaps most importantly – fun.
The Pop-up Club didn’t stint on indulgence and the exclusive area was resplendent with Chesterfield sofas, throws, rugs, cozy nooks and spacious outdoor seating and a full bar. A ready supply of fun festival “must-haves” was provided, including Wellington boots and umbrellas in Annabel’s red to keep Members smiling in case of rain, and sunglasses and Panama hats for when the sun was shining.
With Cornbury being a family festival, children were always kept entertained with plenty of games to enjoy, and a bustling atmosphere throughout the day. While the little ones played, the adults could read the newspaper, enjoy a ‘Recovery Breakfast’, listen to some music, or watch a spot of Wimbledon on the TV screen. Specially created sustenance was available throughout each day, including a decadent antipasti grazing bar, a wide selection of salads and tapas, and a barbecue menu featuring bavette steaks and seared tuna. Members enjoyed cocktails aplenty, including a Summer Gin Fizz and Passion Fruit & Mint Gimlet from the exclusive drinks menu created specially for the occasion.
As evening fell on Cornbury, the Pop-up Club was transformed into a sophisticated party venue as Members donned their best attire to dance to the festival headliners in front of the stage, or in the luxurious surrounds of the Annabel’s Club Tent. The party continued late into the night as Members socialised, danced and drank in the festival atmosphere under the stars.
Three fantastic days were spent in the rustic surrounds of the Cotswolds, enjoying the finest of festivals along with everything they might expect from their Berkeley Square Club. After this success, Annabel’s is looking forward to further Pop-up Clubs at various events in the future, including a return to the Cornbury Music Festival –time to dust off your sunglasses, umbrella and dancing wellies once more!
